1. What is the Subscribe feature and how does it work?
The Subscribe button allows members of the site to follow other members. It allows members to receive updates on the activities of the members that they are subscribed to. If other members are subscribed to you, they will receive updates on your activities.
2. How do I subscribe to another member on Deflategate?
To subscribe to any member, simply click on their avatar and it will take you to a page where you will see the Subscribe button. Click on Subscribe and then choose Confirm.
3. What can I do in Edit Profile?
Edit Profile allows you to build your profile and manage your settings. The additional information that you add will be visible to any member who visits your profile. Things that you can do in Edit Profile include:
4. Where is the Edit Profile section?
You can access Edit Profile by clicking on your name/initials on the upper right hand corner of your account. A drop-down menu will open. Select Profile and then you will see Edit Profile on the right side of the page.
5. What is Virtual Name and where is it located?
Virtual Name is located inside Edit Profile. Edit Profile can be accessed by clicking on your account name/initials on the top right corner of the site. A drop-down menu will open. Click on Profile and Edit Profile will be located on the right hand corner of the page. Virtual Name allows anyone with a Deflategate account to create an alias, which you can use instead of your account sign up name to leave comments on the site.
6. How can I create a Virtual Name?
Use the drop-down menu that is accessed by clicking on your name at the top right side of your account. Click on Profile and then click on Edit Profile. You will see Virtual Name (Alias). Type whatever name that you would like to use as your Virtual Name. If the name has already been taken, you will be notified to choose a new name. After you create your Virtual Name, you will have to select “Yes” on the next box that says, “Use Virtual Name”, in order to activate it. Once your virtual name has been set up, all of your comments and posts will appear under your Virtual Name. You can change back to your regular name at any time.
7. Where is the Mute button? What does it do?
To access the Mute button on any member account, click on the member’s avatar and you will see the button on the right. If you are subscribed to a member who is posting a lot of comments, you will receive a lot of notifications from all of that member’s activities. The Mute button allows you to disable all notifications from that specific member. Receiving too many notifications can be annoying. Muting a member allows you to stay subscribed to that member, but without the hassle of being barraged with notifications. Benefits of the Mute button:
8. Where is the Block button? What does it do?
To access the Block button on any member account, click on the member’s avatar and you will see the button on the right. The Block button was created to shield you from annoying members. When you block a member, the blocked member will not be able to:
A member who has been blocked by you will not receive any notification that they have been blocked by you. They will only know that they have been blocked by you when they try to visit your profile and find that they are not able to view your profile.
9. Why do I see "See Translation" in the comment section?
See Translation is a language translation feature that is powered by Microsoft. If someone posts a comment in a language other than English, you can click on See Translation and the comment or phrase will be translated into English. As of November 2015, Bing Translator can translate 52 languages, including Klingon and Klingon PIqaD. This means that if a Klingon were to post a comment on Deflategate, you would be able to understand him/her and reply back.
10. How can I invite my friends to join Deflategate?
Click on your name/initials at the top right corner of your account to access the drop-down menu. Click on Invite Friends, then click on Send Invitation. Enter the email address of your friend. If you are entering more than one email address, separate the emails with only a comma. Do not include any additional spaces after the comma. After entering the emails, click on Send Invitation. If any of your submitted emails was already used to register on Deflategate, you will be notified that the email address is already on the site. If you receive a message that one of your friends is already on the site, you can go to the Members area and type in that friend’s email address and it will pull up their profile.
11. Is there a way to stop receiving notifications from a member that I am subscribed to?
Click on the Members menu and a list of the members on the site will be displayed. Enter the member’s email address or display name to pull up their profile. Click on the avatar of the respective member’s profile and click on the Mute button. You will no longer receive any notifications from that member until you Unmute that member.
12. What can I do if someone is constantly annoying me with distasteful comments or sending inappropriate private messages?
You can block that person and they will no longer be able to private message you, comment on your posts or view your profile. To block a member, click on that member’s avatar and it will take you to that member’s profile. Once you are there, click on the Block button. You can also choose to Report the member. If you choose to Report a member, The Deflategate Team will evaluate the situation on a case by case basis and decide if further action is necessary.
13. How can I disable the notification light that lets other members know when I am online?
To turn off the notification light, click on your name/initials at the top right corner of your account. When the drop-down menu opens, click on Profile and then click on Edit Profile. Look for “Show when online” and select “No”. To turn the notification back on, change it to “Yes”.
14. Why can’t I access some of the forums that I see in Select Forum?
You have to be a member of a forum in order to be able to participate in that forum. You will only able to access the forums that you selected during the registration process. If you did not select a specific forum during registration, you can use Update Categories to add as many forums as you desire. Update Categories can be accessed through the drop-down menu. You can find the drop-down menu by clicking on your name/initials at the top right corner of our account. Update Categories will allow you to go back and add forums to your account or remove forums from your account at any time.
15. How does the Scoreboard work?
In order to see the scores for your desired sport, click on Scoreboard. Once you are on the Scoreboard page, click on Select Category and a drop-down menu will open with a list of the sports categories. Choose a sports category and if there were any games played in that sports category on that day, the scores would appear on the page.
Note: This site only provides scores for the following sports: American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Formula 1, Handball, Ice Hockey, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Tennis, and Volleyball.
16. How do I add additional forums if I’ve already completed the registration process?
To add additional sports, click on your name/initials at the top right corner of your account. A drop-down menu will open. Select Update Categories and you will be taken back to the page with all of the sports categories. Choose as many sports categories as you would like to add. You can also unselect sports categories that you previously selected. When you are finish selecting your sports, click on the orange rectangle that says, “Pick at least 5 sports” and you will be taken back into your account.
17. How can I make changes to the pages that I create?
If you created a page and would like to make changes, click on your name/initials at the top right corner of your page and a drop-down menu will open. Scroll down the menu until you come to Manage Pages. Click on Manage Pages and you will be able to edit your page(s).
18. How do I use the Members area?
The Members area allows you to search for other members on the site using their email address or their display name. For instance, if you tried to use the Invite Friends feature and were informed by the system that your friends were already on the site, you would go to the Members area and type in their email addresses and your friends’ profiles would be displayed. If you already know a member’s display name, then you could type their display name in the search box and it would pull up their profile.
19. What is the purpose of the "Quote" button on the right side of the page, in the comment section?
If you are replying to a comment and you want to copy the message that you are replying to, you can use the "Quote" button. The "Quote" button makes it easier to let other members know, which comment you are replying to.
20. What is the difference between "Reply" and "Quote"?
Both Reply and Quote serve a similar purpose. The difference is that Reply let's you reply to a comment, but does not copy the comment that you are replying to. Quote copies the exact comment that you are responding to and displays it above your response.
